Baltimore based, cultural activist vernard r gray currently produces Be
Mo Jazz, a jazz music performance series in various Baltimore
neighborhoods. A native of Washington,
DC, gray moved to Baltimore in 2004 after a forty year career of
cultural activism that included twenty-five years [1976 - 2001] as the
owner of the Miya Gallery in downtown DC.
An accomplished photographer /
videographer and ethnic wearables designer, he has had significant
experience in youth development utilizing the arts, media and humanities
as vehicles. He founded CA-FAM
III, Incorporated in 1973 to pursue his "social change"
interests. Currently the organization is exploring the use of arts and new media education as tools for increasing young people's capacity to gain meaninful employment & entreprenual opportunities.
Since arriving in Baltimore, those
who know of his past activities in the District, often ask the question,
"What are you going to do in Baltimore?" Well, it seems
the answer is / will be social change initiatives at 3911 Cold Spring
Lane.
